Alan Rogers (bishop)
Alan Francis Bright Rogers (1907–2003)〔(NPG details )〕 was an Anglican Bishop who held three different posts in an ecclesiastical career spanning over half a century.〔“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕
Educated at Westminster City School and King's College London and ordained in 1932, he began his career with a Curacy at ''St Stephen's, Shepherds Bush''.〔(Parish web site )〕 From 1934 he served the Anglican Church in Mauritius, firstly as a missionary priest then as its Archdeacon. Returning to England he became Vicar of Twickenham followed by a spell as Rural Dean of Hampstead before elevation to the Episcopate as Bishop of Mauritius in 1959.〔The Times, Monday, Jun 15, 1959; pg. 12; Issue 54487; col D ''Bishop Of Mauritius Appointment Of Canon A. Rogers''〕 Translated to Fulham in 1966,〔''New Bishop Of Fulham'' The Times Saturday, Jul 09, 1966; pg. 10; Issue 56679; col C〕 his final appointment was a sideways move to Edmonton〔''Crockford's Clerical Directory 1975-76'' London: Oxford University Press, 1976 ISBN 0-19-200008-X〕 four years later. In retirement he continued to serve the church as an Assistant Bishop for a further quarter of a century.
